This year's Scholastic Book Fair was a huge success. Thanks to the profits made from parents purchasing books for their children and for Vinal School teachers, the PTO is able to supply the classrooms with a lot of new books and teaaching tools! On top of that Scholastic is donating 270 books to children in need thanks to donations to the One-For-Books program.
As a result of the Fall 2008 and Spring 2009 Scholastic Book Fairs the Vinal School had over $8,500 to spend though Scholastic and got approximately 800 new books (163 donated from generous parents and 637 from the profits).
Total Sales at the Spring Fair were $11,722. Through the sales and other incentives we made a profit of $7,363.25 at the Spring Fair. We made a profit of $1,156 at the one-day Fall book fair. We got an additional $270 worth of books through the money we collected through Scholastic's One-For-Books program. And through that program Scholastic will also donate 270 books to children in need.
The parents purchased 163 books (totalling $1,205) for the school at the Spring fair through the classroom wishlists.
The PTO purchased 367 books at the end of the Spring fair. Book Fair chair Pam Billard is putting an order for an additional 270 books, book sets, and other teaching tools through Scholastic's Instructional Resource Catalog (IRC) with the profit from both the Spring and Fall fairs. The items to be purchased are from wishlists that the teachers made from the IRC.
Thank you Vinal Community!!
